GREENBRIER ENRICHMENT CENTER AND SCHOOL

Greenbrier Enrichment Center and School was established in June of 1994. It was the dream of two ladies to have a Christian school that would be able to minister to all children. Our desire was to provide a quality education in a Christian environment. Our other desire was to have small classrooms so that we could meet the needs of each individual child. Our student to teacher ratio is 1 to 12 in Kindergarten and 1 to 16 in First through Fifth. We have chosen curricula that we feel will meet our “hands-on” approach to education. We give the child an opportunity to develop at their own pace. We feel children thrive in an environment that gives them the opportunity to explore.

PURPOSE

The purpose of Greenbrier Enrichment Center and School is to provide a nurturing yet challenging atmosphere in which children can learn through play and discovery, build self-confidence, and think creatively.  We provide a developmentally appropriate program for all ages.

CURRICULUM

Our curricula is shown under each class heading. Our Bible curriculum, published by Association of Christian Schools International, is non–denominational and uses Bible stories, group activities, and research. Students gain an understanding of the Bible and how it applies to their own lives.

We continue to introduce cursive handwriting and multiplication in Second grade and carry on into Third. Our reading program “Literacy by Design” is a leveled reading program that allows children in all classes to read at a level according to their abilities.

We have incorporated Calculadders by Edwin C. Myers, PhD to enhance our Math program and Explode the Code for reading phonics. Book Adventure is used to encourage independent reading and rewards.

We have resource classes for Physical Education, Art, Music, Library and Chapel for all ages. Our Kindergarten is full day and Pre-Kindergarten readiness is emphasized in the Four Year Old Program.
