Fifth Grade

Fourth & Fifth Grades

The fourth and fifth classrooms are a well-balanced, yet diverse program for the students. The program includes reading, language, spelling, writing, math, science, history, and Bible. Field trips, assembly programs, and sporting events are frequently scheduled. Homework is assigned Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Below is a listing of curriculum that we use at Greenbrier Enrichment Center and School:

  • Bible: ACSI Elementary Bible Series (Association of Christian Schools International)
  • Math: Houghton Mifflin Math
  • Science: Delta Science
  • Social Studies: Harcourt Horizons
  • Language: Evan Moor
  • Reading: Literacy by Design – Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

Independent Reading: Some class time is allocated for independent reading and testing through Book Adventures. All students are expected to set personal goals and can choose form a variety of genre.

    This is my fourth year teaching full time at GEC.

    I earned a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Elementary (PK-6th grade) from Christopher Newport University.

    Mrs. Kim Thompson

    I am entering my seventeenth year as a teacher at GEC. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education from Louisiana College and a Master of Religious Education degree with a Specialty in Preschool and Elementary Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
